On Friday 29 November 2024, three dead mute swan (Cygnus olor) and a mediterranean shag (Phalacrocorax aristotelis) were observed in the White Rocks area, washed ashore by the sea. On closer inspection of the terrain, we also found a dead loggerhead turtle (Caretta caretta). All the cadavers were removed with the help of the Veterinary Hygiene Service Nova Gorica, which ensured the safe disposal of the dead specimens.
Due to the possible infection with avian influenza virus (bird flu), we ask visitors to the park to take precautionary measures and avoid contact with such cadavers if they find them. If you see them, call 112 and inform them of the sighting. The operator will pass the information on to the Hygiene Service, which will arrange for removal.
