At the links below you can watch two short videos about the marine protected area of Strunjan Landscape Park. The videos were produced within the POSEIDONE project (Interreg Italy–Slovenia) and are co-funded by the European Union.
The first video presents the marine protected area and its main characteristics:
The second video focuses on the impacts of anchoring on the Mediterranean stony coral (Cladocora caespitosa):
The Mediterranean stony coral is endemic to the Mediterranean Sea and is the only coral species in our sea that forms coral reefs. These reefs provide habitat for numerous animal species and are crucial for maintaining fish populations and marine biodiversity. Today, they are mainly threatened by rising sea temperatures and mechanical damage caused by boat anchoring.
Did you know that the largest coral reef in the Slovenian sea is located precisely within the influence area of Strunjan Landscape Park, in front of Cape Ronek?
