The Strunjan Nature Park Public Institution is committed to adopting ecological and sustainable practices in its daily work. The basis of our activity is sustainability and care for the environment and nature in the broadest sense. We strive to be an example to our surroundings and to co-create a society in which each individual acts responsibly and in an environmentally friendly manner.
We are aware of our role both in our local area and beyond and are committed to the long-term sustainable management of our activities.
The public institution of the Strunjan Regional Park places emphasis on:
– Protecting the environment by minimising the impact of our activities on the environment and participating in environmental and conservation initiatives.
– Monitoring our environmental performance and setting appropriate environmental targets.
– Reducing our environmental footprint through energy and water conservation.
– Reduce waste and actively (reduce, reuse, recycle).
– Use organic, local and/or seasonal eco-labelled or fair trade products whenever and wherever possible.
– Staff education and regular training on environmental and sustainability issues.
– Encouraging guests to actively participate in their own environmental efforts.
– Raising awareness about nature, environment and sustainability during guided tours.
– Informing visitors about the special features of the area.
– Promoting and taking measures to protect local and international biodiversity.
– Formulating a corporate social responsibility policy with reference to issues related to: social, cultural, economic, quality, human rights, health, risk and crisis management.
In 2024, our facility was awarded the ‘GREEN KEY’ environmental label, a leading standard of excellence in environmental responsibility and sustainable
performance in the tourism industry, which signifies the commitment of companies to comply with the strict criteria set by the International Foundation for Environmental Education FEE.
By obtaining the label, we have been recognised for
EXCELLENCE IN ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY AND SUSTAINABILITY.
We declare that:
- we act in an environmentally friendly manner in all areas of our business,
- we raise awareness of the importance of sustainability among our visitors, guests, friends and family, and
- we continuously seek new solutions for the responsible management of natural resources and the efficient use of electricity and heat
This is first and foremost good for the natural environment. In most cases, this kind of environmental care is about small measures that do not involve a great deal of effort or sacrifice of comfort for any of us. It only takes simple and subtle actions. But if we all do them together, we can change the world for the better and leave it to our ancestors. That’s why, with our ‘environmental sparkles’, we are committed to being environmentally responsible, and we encourage our guests to do the same. Awareness-raising is an important prerequisite for obtaining the Green Key label. We would be grateful if you would take our advice into account and help us to preserve the environment.
